ESA Appeals Process
The Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) is committed to providing individuals with the opportunity to request a review of Orders or licenced decisions as they arise. ESA has worked to establish a fair and transparent appeals process to facilitate the review of these decisions.
Please Note: Individuals seeking to appeal a Review of an ESA Order are encouraged to speak with the Senior Inspector or Technical Advisor before filing an appeal.
The appeals process is not a mechanism to answer questions or concerns from the public regarding ESA’s inspection process, or the services offered by ESA including examinations and technical inquiries.
The appeals process is a formal hearing process whereby a person named in a Notice, Notice of Proposal or an ESA Order may, if they choose, file an appeal with the Director of Appeals within 15 business days of its issuance.
Following government approval, procedural rules and business processes were developed and an independent review panel of cross-sector, industry representatives was established to facilitate the review of decisions.
If you are considering appealing our decision, please take a moment to look at the documents under “Review Panel Decisions”.These are some cases that have been presented before the Review Panel (which is the highest step of appeal before filing to Divisional Court) and their final results.
If you would like to file an appeal, please visit the Appeals Process: Step-by-Step webpage.
